The Congrio or
Acosmium nitens is one of the wonderful hardwood trees native to Vichada,
in Colombia. It is very dense and heavy, making it ideal for heavy construction, so much so that
local bugs and termites leave it alone.
Amazonia Reforestation is collecting seeds to plant Congrio,
sometimes called Blackheart, for commercial plantation use and for preservation purposes.
