The
Pinus caribaea or Pino Caribe is able to grow in Vichada, Colombia. This tropical tree
is actually a hardwood, despite being a pine. It grows rapidly, with tall, straight trunks that
reach to the sky. Area plantations are doing some experimenting to determine which seed
sources provide the best results. This is a species that can be found all over Latin America.
